I have a confession to make. While the One Brain Wellness motto is based on loving yourself, I’ve often hated all or parts of my body. Most of my disdain has been directed at my thighs.
I’ve always hated my thighs. But yesterday, I had a coming to Jesus with my thighs – for real.
The heat index was about 110 degrees and I was on a 103 mile bike ride. At the turn around point, I wanted to quit. Sweat was dripping down my chin, my shoulders were burning in the sun and my toes hurt – that’s another story, I need new biking shoes.
But I made a deal with my thighs – You get me through the return trip home, and I’ll never bitch about you again.
The trip home was agonizing – so much so, I yelled the F-word at the top of my lungs about four or five times. I also made a deal with my hips and ass… even my lower back, which I’ve never even stared at long enough to hate, but it hurt too..
You know what? I made it home. Here’s a big thank you to my thighs, hips, ass and the rest of my body for getting me to the place I needed to be.
I don’t go back on a promise. So, no more bitching about my body parts – Thighs, ass, calves, lower back, shoulders, neck… I put you through a lot this weekend. And you DID NOT LET ME DOWN! For that, I love you!
Bottom line – look at what your body does for you – not what you think it should look like. Fall in love with your body and embrace it.
