Meet Pam Steinick with Atha SomaYoga – Pam is a 500 hour certified SomaYoga Specialist. She is passionate about spreading this blend of Yoga and Somatics to the Des Moines area to help people learn to rid themselves of chronic pain, stress, and anxiety. She will teach us some simple Ayurvedic self care practices, provide a calming homemade winter tea as well as a nourishing recipe to try on our own to balance the winter cold and dryness, AND lead us through a SomaYoga session. She’ll also help us to set a Sankulpa, or intention, for the new year at the end of the session to help guide us in our Year of Well Being. (You don’t have to give anything up this year, instead we’ll focus on the positive!) And don’t worry if you’ve never done yoga – Pam will guide you through this SomaYoga session that is gentle and easy to follow. It will help us start to uncover patterns in our bodies that aren’t serving us well so that we can learn how to change them and move with more ease, less pain or tightness, and less stress.
You’ll also get to meet Kathy Butler-Klein who will tell you about Yamuna Body Rolling and her amazing foot workshops. Kathy has been a massage therapist for years and is now teaching people the practice of body rolling. She’ll teach us about body rolling and her foot workshops where she uses special props to find more space in the feet which helps improve circulation, balance, our walking pattern, etc.
